PRINCIPLES AND ISSUES

• Individual Rights - Respect individual rights, autonomy, liberty, the right to own and control property, right to bear arms.
• Public Dialogue - Uphold transparency, oversight, public participation, freedom of speech, and accountability in the governance process and policy. 
• Separation of Powers: The separation of powers is essential to protecting individual liberty, preventing the concentration of government authority, and ensuring each branch remains accountable within its constitutional role.
• Data Privacy: Defend and protect data privacy. 
• Criminal Justice System: Supports the three major components of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, the court system, and corrections. 
• Infrastructure: Advocates for infrastructure that supports our continued growth. Collaborate with UDOT, Utah County, Provo, and Orem to provide efficient transportation, utility grid, and water systems that connect our communities, businesses, and families. 
• Tax Dollars: Guard your sacred tax dollars against government waste. Fight unnecessary taxes levied on the people. 
• Unintended Consequences: Issues often have complex interrelationships. Considers the intended and unintended outcomes.
• Local Control: “The government closest to the people serves the people best.” State statutes establish the parameters within which municipalities are permitted to make decisions. 
• Return on Investment: Prioritize efficiency and effectiveness in resource allocation. Ensure our taxes are properly invested in Utah and its people within the proper role of government. 
• Fiscal Conservatism: Responsibly reduce government spending and excessive tax burdens on individual and business taxpayers. This may be easier said than done, but it can be accomplished. 
• Data-Driven Decisions: Base decisions on factual evidence and data to identify cause-and-effect relationships. 
• Regulations: Assess proposed regulatory policies to minimize burdens without undermining important protections or fairness. 
• Law and Order: Protect and adequately fund law enforcement agencies. Enact clear, well-defined laws. Support correctional facilities and court systems that protect society. 
• Equal Justice Under the Law: Support adequate funding to protect indigent defendants’ Sixth Amendment right to effective counsel. While Lisa is a tough-on-crime advocate, she is firm that the rights of the accused must be upheld. 
• Education: Having served as chair of the Provo High School Community Council and Provo PTA Legislative vice president, Lisa believes a robust education system is built through collaboration among parents, teachers, administrators, and students. 
• Education Options: Lisa supports policies that enhance and expand educational opportunities for Utah students. Ultimately, an educated student is empowered to participate fully in and strengthen society as an engaged, self-sufficient citizen. Lisa proactively speaks with stakeholders, learning about the issues and how education bills affect them, and determining how she can best serve. 
• Students First: Lisa supports policies that put students’ needs first, including reduced class sizes, student safety measures, and an emphasis on individual merit. Strong public school programs, including charter schools, combined with committed parental involvement, offer most students an excellent educational opportunity. By providing options for those who need a different educational path, Utah will continue to produce a strong, educated population. 
• Pro-Life: Fight for the right to life. Lisa is immovable in her defense of the unborn. 
• Elections: Secure elections, maintain clean voter registration lists, and oppose ranked-choice voting.
