PRINCIPLES AND ISSUES

  • Individual Rights - Respect individual rights, autonomy, liberty, the right to own and control property, right to bear arms.

  • Public Dialogue - Uphold transparency, oversight, public participation, freedom of speech, and accountability in the governance process and policy.

  • Privacy - Defend data privacy.

  • Criminal Justice System -  the three major components of the criminal justice system:

                  Law enforcement, Court system, Corrections:

  • Infrastructure - Collaborate with UDOT, Utah County, Provo, and Orem to provide efficient transportation, utility grid, and water systems connecting our communities, businesses, and families. HD61 needs a strong advocate for infrastructure to support our continued growth. (Click here to see current UDOT plans.)

  • Tax Dollars - Guard your sacred dollars against contributing to government waste and fight central bank digital currency (The CBDC differs from digital money that is currently available to the public as a CBDC would not be a liability of a commercial bank, but of the Federal Reserve). Fight unnecessary taxes levied on the people.

  • Unintended Consequences - Consider intended and unintended outcomes. Issues have complex interrelationships.

  • Local Control -  “The government closest to the people serves the people best.” Thomas Jefferson. State statute sets the parameters from which municipalities are permitted to make those choices.

  • Return on Investment - Prioritize efficiency and effectiveness in resource allocation. Ensure our taxes are properly invested in Utah and its people within the proper role of government.

  • Fiscal Conservative - Responsibly reduce government spending and excessive tax burdens on the taxpayer (individual and business). This may be easier said than done, but it can be accomplished.

  • Data-Driven Decisions - Base decisions on factual evidence/data to identify cause-and-effect relationships.

  • Regulations - Assess proposed regulatory policies to minimize burdens where it doesn't undermine important protections or fairness.

  • Law and Order - Protect and adequately fund law enforcement agencies.  Enact clear, defined laws. Support correctional facilities and court systems to protect society.

  • Equal Justice Under the Law - Support adequate funding of the indigent's right to "effective counsel" under the Sixth Amendment. While Lisa is a tough-on-crime advocate, she is firm that the rights of the accused are upheld.

  • Education - Having been the Chair of the Provo High School Community Council and the Provo PTA Legislative Vice-President,  Lisa believes a robust education program is built through collaboration between parents, teachers, administrators, and students.  She supports policies that enhance and provide educational opportunities for Utah's students. Ultimately, an educated student is empowered to fully function in and strengthen society as an engaged self-sufficient citizen. Lisa is proactively speaking to stakeholders learning the issues, how education bills impact them, and how she can best serve.

  • Students First - Lisa will support policies that put the students' needs first, which include, but not limited to: reduced class size, student safety measures, and an emphasis on individual merit. Strong public (including charter) school programs with committed parental involvement offer the majority of our students an excellent educational opportunity. As the law provides other available options  to those who need a different educational path, Utah will continue to produce a strong educated population.

  • Pro-life - Fight for the right to life. Lisa is unmovable in defense of the unborn.

  • Elections -  Secure elections, clean voter registration lists, no ranked choice voting.
